Hey there and welcome to the beauty mind.

I was inspired to start a blog while I was studying beauty therapy in college. I am really passionate about this industry and Iv found my love for working with skin.

When I finished my first year of college in Cork, I decided to do some mobile beauty work. We had to build up a folder with proof of treatments you had done so I thought this was a great idea. I did massages and facials, tinting, waxing and nails all either from my bedroom! (How awkward looking back!) or in the comfort of people's houses. You gotta start somewhere right?

Once I completed my 2 years of college in 2012 I went on to work for Steiner, a large onboard spa on cruise ships. I worked on a ship for 9 months. And honestly it's the best experience Iv ever gotten. It's made me a harder worker.
But, When I arrived home from working away for the best part of  a year, I was stuck in a rut. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next... Did I want to keep travelling or work at home for awhile. The Beauty Industry isn't so Big here in Cork. We mostly have Beauty Salons catering for waxing tinting tanning etc. The Spa side of the Beauty is what I had just worked in for the past 9 months so I wanted a change. The Clinical side of beauty therapy is what interests me most and what I want to peruse my carer in, and its just quite limited here- we have very few Beauty Clinics in the city. I applied for every job possible when I came home. I went to numerous interviews but nothing seemed to WOW me or excite me. And I am the type of person who needs to Love the place I am working in. I feel I don't work to my best standard when I am unhappy with the environment or certain things.

After declining a few of jobs I took the risk and decided to do up a Beauty room at home, while waiting for something more practical to show up.. We had a 'Playroom' at the front of my house that nobody 'Played' in any more so I just gutted the room, put down a new floor, a lovely wallpaper and had lots of fun decorating the room. It took some time but I LOVE it!

This was the room before Doing it up.

After :)

When I was in College during 1st and 2nd year I would have done a few treatments for people at home in my house as practise- such as a Facial or a massage. But I used have to bring them through my house and upstairs to my bedroom where all my Beauty Equipment was(Cringe!)

My Main reason for setting up my Beauty Boutique at home was because- every place you work in whether its a Spa or Salon- You are under fierce pressure to sell, to get the treatment done in a certain amount of minutes + Sell and try not to sound pushy etc etc. I learnt a lot about retail from my job as a beauty Therapist on the ship but I didn't enjoy that side of it. I love to meet my guest, find out their main concern, give them the most Amazing treatment, let them enjoy it, tell them what they need to do after the treatment, what to use, without forcing something on them. I want them to come back to me because they liked me, but loved my treatment. I treat my guest how I would want to be treated when I go to get my treatments done. Confident, Professional, Knowledgeable and Kind.

I wanted to do this My way, My rules, run My own Business how I would expect to see another Beauty business do. I hope in the future to have my own Clinic with a lot of different treatments available- so this is a great start. I am certainly learning loads! and most importantly I am loving it!
