My skin care routine

Hey YOU!, Get ready to change up your skincare routine!!


As a beauty therapist I know how important it is to look after your skin. So many people neglect their skin, and its as you get older you start to wish you cared for it more.

I was working on a cruise ship for 9 months as the on board skin care specialist, and ill tell you something, I have seen the worst case scenarios when it comes to sun damage and ageing.

Now don't get me wrong we are all going to age, and our skin is always changing, but if we help it along the way you are going to see an improvement in your skin.

And it starts now:

From our younger years our new skin cells were produced every 28 days, as we get older this slows down. Resulting in more concerns in our skin. This gives us the indication that we need to be doing more with our routine..

1. Cleansing, x2 a day. Removes not only makeup but the debris from the environment on our skin.

2. Tone x2 after your cleanser to remove any excess cleanser and so your further products such as serum and moisturiser will sit into (and not on top of) the skin better.

3. Eye care x2 all along the eye bone. Not directly under the eye(flesh) as this will make the area bigger. You need to use ur Ring finger (gentle touch) to dab the cream or gel around the bone to improve circulation  (improving dark circles- remove the de oxygenated blood and bring fresh oxygenated blood to the area) also improving firmness, strengthening your collagen fibres resulting in fewer fine lines.

4. Serum (if ageing is a concern) serums are more concentrated than creams so these work deeper into your skin. Getting down to your lowest layer (dermis- where our collagen and elastin fibres are made.) these will  tighten and firm the collagen and elastin fibres, strengthening our skin from within).
(I recommend to do this both morning and evening under ur moisturiser for best results)
No7 have a great new serum OR. Clarins have a good one aswel.

5. Day cream with an SPF. Lighter cream for the day with atleast 15 spf in it to wear. Apply from chest up avoiding eye area. (wearing an SPF helps delay sun damage and protects against pigmentation/Age spots)

6. Night cream. This should be richer (not too rich if you have oily or sensitive skin) than your day cream. Your skin regenerates as you sleep. So it best repairs itself. What you do in the evening really does count. Don't reach for the wipes and ditch the creams. Honestly you will thank yourself for taking 3-4 mins in the evening to do this!

7. Now weekly care: exfoliate x2-3 with a good A. Exfoliator. Use the scurb in circular movements on damp skin. Remove with a cloth.
B. Face mask: critical for all skin types! But people get this wrong.. Yes there are so many masks out there.. But dont just buy any, you need to know your skin type. Invest in a good mask. You will only use it max 1-2 times in a week. Depending on your skin. But face masks are just sooo beneficial. They will open up your pores (even deeper after exfoliation) and tighten your skin and remove all the dead skin. Leaving your skin glowing.

Try these steps :-) it takes awhile to get into a routine, but you would never leave the house without brushing your teeth right??

This is just some of my basic essentials. 

My daily dose. From left-right- eye cream, cleanser, face moisturiser (light) bb cream, deeper moisturiser. (I like to switch things up so i have different moisturisers for when my skin feels dryer etc)

Night care. Cleanser, nightcream, tea tree for spots, optional lighter moisturiser in front if I feel my skin is not so tight. 

I love this ! SPF50 with a tint of colour.

My weekly dose. I do this about 3 times. I have 2 different face masks, (white and pink bottle) one is for oily areas, other is hydrating. My 2 exfoliators- one is gentle and one is deep. So i switch these up!!
