The joys of PACKING!

August 13, 2014

Good Evening All xx

Ah, so once again I am packing up my wardrobe for another adventure...

And it doesn't get any easier doing it second time round...

Last year I was packing for 10 months travelling around the world on a cruise ship. I wasn't so fussy with what I was packing to be honest (unlike this time!) I knew I was going to be in my work uniform for 12 hours of the day everyday.

This Move is a little different... Its for longer (not sure how long) and Its more laid back than my travels on the ship..

I never knew how much shoes I actually owned.... until this week..And Its crazy the amount I never wear.... But you never  know when things come back into fashion right?! Its so hard to let go of some items..

My flight to Australia allows me 30 kg, which obviously is not enough for me. I always, and I mean always have luggage trouble. Whether its just a quick flight over to see my boyfriend in Amsterdam for a weekend, or a long haul flight... I am always overweight....

I don't want to be the girl at the corner of the check in desk throwing things out, stuffing things in my handbag and layering on more clothes.... And almost having a meltdown.... Because.... That is usually me in a nutshell in the airport.

This time I am going to be Super Travel Pack Smart.

And here is how (so far!)

BTW, I'm moving to the Gold Coast, Queensland (Where the sun shines ALL year round!)

1. Iv arranged a big box to be sent out to me once I arrive with clothes, shoes and bits that I dont need straight away. (When my cruise ship was changing around to travel Alaska  - I had my mum post out a box to me in Our home port Sydney. with some warm bits in it for me, as I didnt pack for the cold. This big box only cost €60 to send)

2. I cant count how many bikinis iv packed, but I have enough to last me a year,  atleast!

3. Gym gear- basic shorts, string tops, light t-shirts and sports bras (nothing to heavy with the heat)

4. Shorts and skirts

5. Casual tops

6. Interview clothes & work clothes: (mainly black) midi skirts, dresses.

7. Dresses and jumpsuits

8. 3 light cardigans (black, white and cream)

9. Underwear, socks and bras ( Australia is quite expensive in this department!)

10. Sandals, flip flops, converse, Nikes, and a few pairs of high heels.

11. Im a sucker for cosmetics, more so face and body products than makeup- so I have ready to pack, the exfoliating gloves for the body, moisturiser, my clarisonic (LOVE!), cleanser, day cream and night cream. Mask and exfoliator for face. My makeup is pretty basic especially in summer, so waterproof mascara, bronzer and brown shadow for the brows, and black shadow for the eyes. Along
with a simple colour for the lips. & of course my SPF (The Australian sun is not like any European sun so I am bringing with me La Roche Posay Spf 30 & 50 for both face& body)

12. My little clear plastic bag with my (under 100ml) products for the long flight: Sanitiser, Babywipes, Moisturiser, Tooth Brush, Toothpaste,  & Body Wash. (Nice to freshen up during the flights)

Yes yes I know my bag sounds overflowing by now... But remember with the climate in the gold coast,  I only need light things.

I have a flat gear bag style suitcase (biggest I could find), Ill take a small suitcase on-board, as-well as my handbag.

Being prepared is KEY for these long haul flights, as there is nothing worse than being stressed. My bag is at 25kg now. Which is meeting Aerlingus's weight requirement for my flight to Amsterdam. Ill be allowed an extra 5kg from there to Oz. Not so bad. So far.....

Packing is not easy... But what's worse is unpacking AH!

Wish my case could look this organised

Oh if only I packed my clothes neatly

Now these were a real Holiday bargain, Im going to miss penneys alot. I just picked up some simple make-up- bronzer €4, waterproof mascara €2.50, Brow kit €2.69, Lip pens (which are actually really good and last long) €2 & €2.69 #guiltfree

I think Iv been shopping TOO much for this move....

Im off to start the jewellery packing now- this will go in my hand luggage! (I don't wear too much ;-))

Have a nice evening,
Sleep tight xxxx

Katie
