Spots after waxing? Can you relate to this?

This is such a common and annoying issue after waxing whether its your face or body. It most commonly happens if this is your first wax or your first time in a long while waxing.
There are things to look out for to prevent this from happening and things to help soothe the area if this does happen to you. I promise ill keep this post short and sweet!

Okay so you've waxed your lip or brows and a few hours later you see pimples and red spots under the skin and it doesnt look attractive. At all.

Where do these spots come from? The root of the hair is surrounded by an oily substance called sebum. When you pull out the hairs from the root-  sebum is brought to the surface of the skin, causing these spots and bumps.

If you havent ever experienced this breakout, you are lucky. But if you are a regular waxer it doesnt mean you never will. Be wax smart.

What You can do to avoid getting them?

*Make sure your skin is cleansed before you wax.
*Use hard/hot wax instead of using warm/srip wax. (Hot wax- the one that sets on the skin is designed for the more sensitive areas and sensitive skins)
*There are alot of colourings and perfume in wax- If you know you have sensitive skin make sure you are using suitable wax for your skin- such as honey, aloe vera or sugar wax.(ask the salon berore you make your appoitment which wax they use)
*If your going to a salon, make sure its clean, you have seen the therapist disinfect their hands, and she isnt re-dipping the spatula into wax pot.
*Pre wax oil to clean your skin is great for sensitive skin as the wax will stick to the hair not the skin. Leaving the skin less red.
*Avoid putting makeup on straight after waxing- this is the worst thing you can do because your pores are open and can cause infection.

If You notice these unwanted red pimples, bump like spots- Try the following:

*Do not pick do not pick Do Not Pick!
*Apply some Ice to bring down the inflamation and help close the pores.
*Cortisone cream to help the inflamation
*Apply aloe vera, tea tree or coconut oil to the area to help heal.
*Gently exfoliate 2-3 days after waxing.
*If this hasnt healed after a week then see your doctor as you may have a infection.

Alternative to waxing try Threading. I thought myself how to thread a few years ago and it is the most natural method of hair removal for your skin. It hurts like hell but its better than all the chemicals in wax, bleaching cream, and hair removal creams. And dont get me started on shaving the skin on your face, you will regret that one!

Hope this helps some of you out there that have or had this issue.. Next time- thread!!

Have a great weekend!
