Skin & the Gym

Do you go to the gym with a full face of makeup on or do you cleanse it all off before hand?

What do you apply to your skin after a workout? Or do you just leave it be?

Read on to find out some tips on how to care for your skin at the gym.

Whether you do a big session or a little one cleansing your skin before exercising is a must. Fail to do this and be prepared for congested skin, underlying pimples and breakouts.

Trust me, I spend ages extracting these out of peoples skin.... (But I enjoy it hehe..)

1.Sweating- This is what the gym is for! Sweating with makeup on is not cool. Not only will it run down your face, it will clog your pores. Bacteria will build up in the pores and cause breakouts. Cleanse your skin prior to your workout. Its better to go bare faced, and you'll leave with a good glow!

2.Dont touch your face while sweating. This can cause bacteria to spread and again cause breakouts. Keeping a toner and some cotton pads in your bag to wipe across your face will help fight bacteria.

3.Wash your hands after using machines,weights,matts. Always bring a big towel so your not touching off anyone elses sweat. Gyms are full of cross contamination, so having some antibacterial wipes to clean down machines before using them is always a good idea. 

4. Do a Gentle Cleanse after working out to rehydrate the skin and remove dirt and bacteria build up. Never just apply your makeup after a workout, or use shower gel to wash your face. Use a seperate cleansing wash for your face & body. Always! Dont forget to wash your back well, this is the most common place for gym goers to get breakouts.

5.Apply Moisturiser and SPF afterwards to skin, to keep hydrated and protected. Even if your not going outdoors, air conditioning and the enviroment have an impact on our skin. Apply body moisturiser to the skin.

6.Dont lounge around in gym clothes, the sweat and dirt will sit on your skin and cause breakouts.

7. Water water water. Before your workout, During your workout and after your workout! To hydrate the body, Skin and keep cells flowing.

Its great to go to the gym and look after your body. But its equally important to look after your skin, seens as its our largest organ in the body.

Don't be that Girl!

I'm a bit of a freak with these wipes.. I bring them everywhere with me! They are so handy for the gym if there aren't already hygiene wipes available. You don't have to bring the whole pack with you in the gym, just take out 1 or 2 (or 4-5 if your like me- just kidding!) and keep them in your towel to wipe things down!
