Update on the Clarisonic Mia 2

October 22, 2015

Hey guys, hope you’re having a good week so far. It’s Almost Friday, yay!

If you have been following my blog since I started it, you’ll remember I bought the clarisonic before I went to Australia last year, and I was quite obsessed with it. You can read my first post about it Here.

Today I wanted to do a little update on it, because honestly until this morning, I  actually could'nt tell you the last time I used it!! I did use it a few times when I was in Australia, but towards the end, when I was packing up to go travelling and sending boxes home, I packed it in a box because I wasn’t using it much.

However….The whole point in this post is that as of today, I am going to be using my clarisonic brush everyday (or try to for that matter), because even just after one use of it this morning in the shower, my skin has improved. I’ve been getting a lot of underlining congestion recently, mostly on my cheeks. The skin feels and looks rough, I can see little pimple like bumps under the skin and tiny terrible blackheads. Now I usually would extract these annoying blackheads once they have come to the surface, but in the last few months I’ve gotten some bad hyper-pigmentation (Patch of dark pigment on the skin) from squeezing my skin. NOT GOOD! So, I am trying to decongest my skin a healthier way, and yes it is going to take longer to get rid of the congestion this way, instead of squeezing, but its better for the skin in the long run.

Recapping on how the clarisonic works?
·        The sonic brush uses a gentle back and forth movement which is ideal for flexing and unclogging pores, while still minding the elasticity of the skin.

·        The bristles on the brush move at a speed of 300 movements per second which both flexes the pores and creates fluid that flushes out dirt, debris, excess surface oils and impurities from the pores.

  • The handheld brush moves around the skin gently massaging and pushing cleansers 6 times deeper than your fingers can into the skin. This actually helps further products- serums, and moisturisers work into the skin, instead of sitting on top of the skin which is what happens these products when skin hasn't been cleansed properly.
  • Once you turn it on you hear a buzzing noise and you place it on your skin starting on whichever area you prefer, it beeps after a few seconds indicating you to move on to the next area. So you will get the cheeks, chin, nose, forehead areas all in 1 minute. And that’s all you need! You can turn it on again and go around for another minute or work on main areas of concern, like me I turned it on this morning for a second time to just focus on my cheeks, and under my chin where iv a patch of dryness.
  • You can get different heads for the brush, Iv had 4 different ones since I bought my clarisonic (so maybe I used it alot more than I thought I did in Australia!) There are deep cleansing heads for dry/oily skin, sensitive, and normal. My favourite is the deep cleansing one. These need to be replaced every 3 months(so manufactures say), I think it depends on how much you use it, and care for it. Its good to wash heads with gentle soap or antibacterial spray after each use.
  • You can use in shower, it doesn’t matter if it gets wet.

Charging it?
Oh dear.. drama..When I first bought it I was clueless, I couldn’t work out how to charge it. I’m one of those people that doesn’t sit down and read every piece of information on the leaflet.I just get too excited about it all. I was placing the clarisonic on the charger (which is what was said to do on the box) because it had no attachment/insert for the charger. I couldn’t work out for the life of me how it worked. It kept buzzing and lighting up, but wasn’t turning on. I went back to the shop, thinking it was broken. Awkward.. I was shown how to charge it.. Easy as, its magnetic, and you just attach the charger to the end of the clarisonic and yippe it charges J That was quite an embarrassing moment..

It comes with a travel case, keeping it nice and clean.
This is the magentic attachment that fits nicely onto the front of the clarisonic. See below picture.

It fits like this to charge. It will light up to let you know its charging.

How often to use it?
Manufactures say you can use everyday, I don’t see why not either. As of today I am definitely going to try use mine everyday to really combat my congestion and dryness.

Who is it for?
To be honest the clarisonic is for everyone in my opinion, maybe not for those with puscular, acne. You could try it- but Id suggest trying the sensitive head and not using it everyday. It could irritate the acne.

I think the clarisonic is great for those who don’t have a lot of time to spend on their skin, busy mums, busy workers, people who don’t do regular facials, or exfoliate and do masks every week. If your one of the above- you will benefit from the clarisonic daily in the shower. Use it while the conditioner is in your hair, atleast your doing something to your skin that is stimulating circulation and regenerating the skin.

In a Nut Shell:
Whether you have concerns with your skin or not, the clarisonic is a great investment for the skin. Detoxing the skin from daily debris build up that we cannot see, but we start to feel over time. Strengthening the skin, and helping with the ageing process.
If you’re not the type to go for regular facials, then this could be the right choice for you to maintain your skin.

I am very happy I have welcomed the clarisonic back in my life! I will post some before and after pictures of my skin in the coming weeks, so you can all see the difference with complexion.

PS. The Clarisonics can be a bit pricey, I paid €100 for my one in Debenhams, Cork. I got a discount because at the time I worked on one of the counters in there and there was also a sale on so I got a further discount. Saving €50. So look out for the sales!
