''They see me rollin....."

The name may put some people off, but skin needling is by far one of the best skin treatments out there for your skin.

If you follow me on my social media accounts you will see we do it alot at work on clients.

What is Skin needling? It's a non surgical non abrasive skin treatment where very fine sterile needles are rolled on the skin in order to puncture tiny like holes in the skin. The reason for this is to manipulate the epidermis in the skin and trick the skin into thinking its been damaged, therefore collagen and other growth factors are stimulated to the area to heal and repair the skin. Collagen and elastin production is stimulated straight away as is the natural healing processes.

Clinical studies show that products penetrate the skin 84% deeper after the skin has been needled. On a normal basis products can penetrate our skin at 4%. So there is a huge difference. Products that contain active ingredients like vitamins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid in serums, masks, and moisturisers are best to apply after skin needling because they really benefit the protection and hydration of the cells in the skin.

Who is it for? Skin needling is fantastic for those with acne scarring, other scarring, large pores, congestion, dark circles under the eyes, pigmentation, stretch marks, crows feet, fine lines, wrinkles and smoothing out rough skin texture.

Where can you get it done?  Best place to go for any advanced skin treatments is a reliable Skin clinic or dermatologist. Always do a consultation first. The Dermapen is one of the types of needling used when you book a skin needling tretament in a clinic. Its a deeper more medical needle depth (there are different depths to build up to). The more advanced needling treatments penetrate to the upper dermis of the skin. Iv had this done and it was slightly more painful than home dermarolling, and there will be blood.... and the more blood the better. Its a simular treatment to Kim Kardashians vampire facial. You can see my treatment of the dermapen in a video a couple of months ago on my instagram @thebeautymind_

Home Rolling:  Home rolling is a very safe and effective treatment to do at home 1-2 times a week. The depth of these needles are very small so it is safe to do from home. There is changes to the skin with home rolling, but it must be done frequnetly so see the best results. It prickles the skin ever so slightly and it will tingle for a few minutes after but it is not painful. If you follow me on my snapchat @Guerinkatie you will have seen me do it this weekend. I love it!

I just started recently home rolling and I am very excited to see the results. I have very dark circles and thin skin under my eyes so after a few months of dermarolling the skin around my eyes should thicken. My skin can be quite rough on the cheeks so after rolling I apply a hydrating serum which gets penetrated much more - like I said above, so this will improve the area. And who doesnt want more collagen and elastin production!?...

We're all going to get our fair share of lines, wrinkles and spots and so what, but there are lots of skin treatments out there to help with your skin's concern. It's not all about avoiding getting wrinkles (because its not possible!). Its about embracing and caring for the skin you live in.

5/5 for skin needling from moi...
