BHA'S (Beta Hydroxy Acids)

November 03, 2016

Hey all!

If you read my post earlier this week about AHA's, this is a follow up on the powerful Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA's) in Skincare which work in a different way. There is only one type of BHA in skin care ingredients and that is SALYCILIC ACID. This is the bad boy you need if you suffer with spots or excess oil.

Salycilic acid can penetrate into the pore of the skin. It can exfoliate the pore and outside on the surface of the skin loosening up clogged skin cells. Salycilic acid is excellent for acne, congested skin, breakouts, blackheads, whiteheads, and oily skin.
It can sometimes be used to help some types of psoriasis and dermatitis.
Those with an asprin allergy or pregnant must avoid this ingredient.
Salycilic acid is another great ingredient for ingrown hairs. You will find this ingredient in most ingrown hair creams or pads.

Introduce this ingredient slowly to your routine. You can find it in cleansers, toners, serums, day creams, exfoliants and masks.

Just like with AHA's- always read the ingredient list and make sure it is mentioned towards the beginning- middle of list. Not at the very bottom. You need at least 2-3% to see a noticable change with the skin.

Hope this was helpful for you, any questions leave below or message me on my social media accounts @thebeautymind Instagram and @Thebeautymind Facebook.

Lots of love,
Katie
