Do you mask?
If you don't, fear not..... I am going to tell you why you need to start!
A face mask blankets the skin, helping active ingredients penetrate. Masks have different benefits depending on the skin type. Clay masks, sheet masks, gel masks, enzyme masks and cream masks should all be part of a good skincare routine.
Benefits of face masks:
Increase in Circulation
Tightening and Firming
Remove excess oil
These are best for oily, breakout, acne skin types. The Clay absorps excess oil in the skin. Clay massively improves the appearance of large pores. Its helping to remove all impurites and dirt trapped in the skin aswel as killing the bacteria. Use x1 -2 week if you have this skin type. *I sleep with a bit of clay mask on areas where I see a breakout coming up on my skin to help bring them down in size.
This is my favourite clay mask by Skin Ceuticals, here.
These masks are great for sensitive and dry skin types. Hyaluronic acid is usually an active ingredient in these which is extremely nourishing and plumping for the skin. Gel masks feel a little cool on the skin so they are great for anyone suffering with redness or inflamation in the skin. Gel masks can be used x1-2 a week left on for 15-20 mins, after skin needling, or as night cream once in the week. This is a great gel mask by skin ceuticals for all skin types here.
Cream masks are a thicker more firming type of mask. I would suggest these for very dry skin to ageing skin types. These masks will help to put moisture back into the skin to give a more fuller, plumper appearance. Cream masks usually have more active ingredients in them so I wouldnt reccomend for sensitive skin types. My favourite and also a favourite of Victoria Beckham is Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask here.
My favourite!! These are acidic masks with either AHA's or BHA's in them (read here if you are not familiar with these ingredients). These masks gently exfoliate the top of the skin, removing dead skin cells, speeding up the skin cell cycle and leave a gorgeous glow on the skin. Only to use every now and then, especially if you are not used to AHA or BHA ingredients. x1 a week or every 10 days. Great to use prior to a event so your skin is flawless. My favourite is Dermaquest Pumpkin mask here.
These are becoming a big hype. I love to use them when traveling. If I am on a long flight I will use one of these regardless of how crazy I look! They are a great product for on the go. Sheet masks were born in Korea, they are soaked in active ingredients to help deliver moisture and antiageing benefits to the skin.
PS: DIY face masks are also great for the skin read about homemade ones here.
