Friday Five: Best Beauty Secrets

1. Beauty Sleep

It’s a thing… Getting at least 8 hours of sleep a night helps the body to repair itself. The more sleep you get the fresher and more rejuvenated you will feel and of course look. Its not called beauty sleep for nothing…. 

2. Veggies, fruit and good fats

Feed your skin from within. All the foods we know we should eat, like raw veggies, nuts, seeds, and eating less dairy and meat will help the appearance of skin, hair and nails. Drinking buckets of water and snacking on less sugar. Skin issues such as eczema, dermatitis and acne can be diet related. Dairy and sugar can cause inflammation in the skin.

3. SPF 

Keeps the wrinkles away and helps with uneven, pigmented complexion. Wear big sunnies to protect the skin around the eyes which is the most delicate skin. SPF should be worn everyday, all year as daylight is what ages and damages our skin and weakens it over time, breaking down our collagen fibres which is what holds our skin together.

4. Breakouts 

Apply pure tea tree oil with a cotton bud to breakout areas as many times as you like. This will heal the area, kill bacteria and reduce the size. Apply a clay face mask to spots and sleep in it over night- this will dry up the oil and spots will be gone literally in a few days. DO NOT PICK SPOTS. If you do you will be left with them for longer, and they can scar. 

5. Change pillow case often

Bacteria and sweat can build up on pillow cases so its best to change them weekly. If you have congested or acne skin I would change them x2 in the week. Sleeping on silk pillow cases is best because cotton can pull and suck the moisture out of your skin and hair. Sleeping on silk will also help with the visible signs of ageing.
