Friday Five: Important Ingredients you should know about

When it comes to buying skin care products people can get so overwhelmed. There are hundreds of brands out there today and each one claims they are 'the best'. One way to know which brand to choose is purely down to the ingredient list. Ingredients is what makes a product the product that it is. If a product doesn't have atleast one of the ingredients listed below, I'm afriad it is not doing much for your skin. Especially if you have a skin concern and want to make changes to the surface of the skin.

Ingredients are key, forget about the brand! Here are my top 5 ingredients.

1. Vitamins - A (retinol), B, C and E. Protect against cellular damage and promote growth and repair of cell tissues.

2. Alpha hydroxy acids - Glycolic acid, Lactic acid, Mandelic acid. Resurfaces the top layer of the skin increasing cell turnover.

3. Beta Hydroxy acids - Salycilic acid. Resurfaces the skin deeper than AHA's. Refines and exfolaites clogged pores, excellant for acne and oily skin 

4. Peptides and stem cells - Protect and promote cellular renewal.

5. Hyaluronic acid - Maintains skin moisture and elasticity.
